Random Fun

Getting the mail is an occasion to get all dressed up.

"What's that, Scout?  I can't hear you ..."

Watermelon snack!

She's been trying really had to wink.  She's almost there.

Holy zucchini!  We mad a LOT of muffins out of this beauty.

Playing hide n' seek with Scout.  But I don't think Scout knew it.

High School Flashback

This weekend we hit two different toddler birthday parties.  Both kids of my friends from high school which is super fun AND bizarre. I know I should be used to the idea of being over thirty but I am just having trouble wrapping my head around the fact that I started high school 18 years ago.  EIGHTEEN YEARS AGO.  I still remember what I wore that day -- I mean, granted, I wore a uniform, but still, I can remember what shoes and tights I was wearing. Anyhow, we're old now.  But we can still party.

A little rain and the absence of bathing suits can't keep these kids out of the pool!  Eleanor went in while wearing her party dress.

See above comment about knowing how to party.

Elliott had an in depth phone conversation with her husband over tea while presents were being opened.

Julia has a billion cousins and I think every single one of them touched the icing on the cake. Mmmmm.

Weekend Fun

Saturday is hands down our favorite day.  It usually starts with Elliott and Daddy going to the bagel store (so I get a little alone time), then we head off on some sort of beach or backyard adventure.  The weather this summer has been so awesome -- not that weather is everything, but is sure does help when it is gorgeous out.

The best part about Saturday?  Daddy stays with us ALL DAY!

Sometimes we go to the park ...

Sometimes we build sand castles and mud puddles at Crane's Beach ...

Sometimes we go to Winaersheek Beach ...

And sometimes we pretend to take beach naps.

We've had some pretty nice little Saturdays. Occasionally we go to Home Depot or Bed Bath and Beyond.  But only if there is enough time.

Swim Date

We spent a hot afternoon up with the Massaros and Elliott tried to teach herself to swim!  She and Emmitt had a blast playing with the goggles and jumping off the dock (into about 6 inches of water).

Beach Day

We headed down to the cape for the day today to go visit Uncle Matt and Ant Lindsay (they are on vacation with Linds' family for the week).  Hunting for crabs was both fun AND scary -- they found a crab that was too big to fit into any of our buckets.  The girls also caught lots of fish that kept hopping out of the bucket.  I didn't let her sleep on the way home (lesson learned from last week) and she fell asleep SO FAST tonight that she is barely all the way in her bed.  Successful beaching.

This is her excited face.  I had just told her what the plan was for the day (I tend to not tell her what we are doing until 5 minutes before we leave in case plans change).

Checking out the captive crabs and fish.

Running away from the giant scary crab -- even Uncle Matt abandoned the crab catching project because it was so big.

Nice hat, Matt.  He made a deal with Elliott that he would keep filling the sand pit with water as long as she continued to entertain him with stories.  She proceeded to tell a looooong involved story about a band of donkeys that plays music in New York.  They sell blue Tshirts but the girl donkeys wear pink and the opening band is all elephants.  She also told him about her imaginary friends and all sorts of other nonsense.  Everyone was entertained -- including the group of people next to us.

Fishing

Testing out her new goggles.

You know, I had a bunch of long, lonely days this winter but days like today TOTALLY make up for them.  I love my job.  I love my family.  I love my life.

York Beach

We went to visit some friends who have a vacation home in York Beach, ME today. We had a BLAST! E says her favorite part was when the waves crashed over into their sand hole.  They played in the sand for hours.  Elliott slept for more than an hour on the way home (can't remember the last time she did THAT) but she is upstairs singing at almost 10pm.  Go to sleep, little bug!

Surfin' USA

I'll be cleaning sand out of her ears for a week.  She was COVERED.

We were quite a site with our pregnant bellies, toddlers and STUFF.  Janine's husband had a big cart with the chairs, umbrellas, coolers and toys.  SO much fun.

Waterlogged

With Jas gone for the whole week, Elliott and I made an effort to exhaust ourselves via water adventures.  We hit the YMCA pool club with some friends, Walden Pond, the backyard giraffe pool, a pool party and the beach in Maine.  She is fabulously tan and I am freckled.  But the great news is ONE MORE SLEEP and we get to go get Daddy at the airport! I'm exhausted.  Elliott is still singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in her bed.  Yes, it is almost 10pm.

I've reached the point where going up the back stairs 4 times an afternoon to help her use the potty is too tiring so we set up an outdoor station.  This reminds me of a photo of me at about the same age on an outdoor potty -- I'll have to have my mom dig that photo out ...

Two thirsty girls!

I find that the later she goes to bed, the earlier she wakes up.  So much for exhaustion via water adventures.  This one was at about 6am -- Scout was not ready to start the day.

21+ weeks

I'm behind on bi-weekly photos -- today I was clean and pretty for a party so I took the opportunity to document it.  No one wants to see me unshowered in my jammies.
