Rooney Playdate
We headed down to the cape for a playdate with my oldest friend, Alissa, and her niece Eleanor!
Elliott and Eleanor got along famously. They're both very (OK sort of) good at sharing and at giving people the stink eye.

Alissa and I met at the Mendon Town Beach when we were two. We had the same doll. The rest is history. It's hard to believe we were just a little older than E and E.

For a giggle, here's a the oldest photo I have of me and Alissa. I think we're about 4. Yep, that's me with the turbo-bangs.

White Fang
Cape Cod Vacation
Table for (almost) six please!
Elliott entertained us for about an hour by making old man faces.

Blueberry pancakes? APPROVED!
Elliott LOVES water. Bathtime is her favorite time of day, I am constantly pulling her away from Scout's water bowl and now we know that she likes salt water. The taste of it that is.
Best purchase of the summer? Beach tent.

Elliott had lots of bonding time with her Uncle Brother this weekend. He let her play with his iPhone and she interrupted his nap. Sounds fair to me.

Story Hour
Bedtime routine in our house ends with "Storytime with Daddy." It used to be just one or two stories but recently Elliott has been very interested in books. She can even point out the moon in several different books. Storytime now lasts so long that Scout gets lonely in the living room and has taken to participating ... kind of:
Hello old friend
Our jumperoo got put away a while ago because she lost interest in it but the McMahons have theirs out and Elliott was happily reunited with her old friend ...

Purgatory Chasm
My friend Jen from high school was in town this week so we headed out to my old stomping grounds for some kid-friendly fun at ... Purgatory Chasm? I'm sure there's history behind the weird name but all I remember from my time there as a kid is being told not to run near the Chasm because I could fall, break my neck and die. Since E isn't so sure-footed yet (ha!), we spent time on the playground and away from the neck-breaker. Elliott was a little too little to appreciate the bug presentation and craft hour but her new BFF Lily ate it up. Not literally.
Many thanks to Jen for documenting the event -- I had my camera but didn't use it!

BFFs for reals.
Pony presentation. There is so much to learn!

And then (going with the theme of this summer), we swam.
And for a laugh, here is me and Jen in our high school production of "Pirates of Penzance."

Sand!
Funtimes and adventures
Look at this adorable bug. How could this angelic face ever cause any trouble?
Perhaps by climbing into the dishwasher?
Pig-pile!
"Who needs toys? I've got a laundry basket!"
Finger foods.
Scout. Is. Thrilled.
"HI! IT'S ME! I'M AWAKE!"
Elliott likes to take Scout for a walk. Err crawl? I just noticed the farmer's tan she is rocking in this picture. She tans? Are we sure she's part Flaherty?
She is SO good at sharing.
Notice both pacifiers on the floor:
