Recently ...

We have been battling stomach bugs, stuffy noses, and morning croup here this week but we've still been having fun.  Today, not so much.  But earlier this week, yes.

Dance Party!  Every night this week and last, there has been an intense dance party where E sings every song on the Frozen soundtrack and T spins until she falls down.  Hilarious. There are typically several costume changes during the dance party.

Bead baby!  Totally a good idea ....

Not every night is Kodak-worthy.  This night ... was hysterical.  Talie has learned how to tickle.

Tarzan's sister who sings the Frozen songs.

Stomp stomp stomping in her SHOOOOOOZ.  We think Talie's first official word (other than the variety of D words like DaDa, Dee Dee, Dow Dow, etc), is shoe.

E did my hair for me.

This is an old one but before I tossed it (making room for new hilarious art on the walls), I wanted to document E's imagination.  She named all of these girls herself.

She has the spoon in her hand ... I just can't get her to USE it.

Movie night!

It has been a while since I shared some Elliott-isms here (some of these might be repeats?) and we are about to enter a whole new world of Talie-isms!  These girls are TALKERS.  Anyone surprised?  Yeah, me neither.

  • I am an online shopper.  I just don't enjoy going to stores.  Consequently, the mailman brings Elliott "presents" every so often.  She wanted to send him a thank you note for her new clothes. I've started to explain the concept of online shopping -- the other day at the grocery store, Jas couldn't find an ingredient and she suggested he "just buy it online."
  • Coming in from the cold a while ago, E asked me if Talie was too little for hot chocolate.  When I told her yes, hot chocolate was only for big kids and grownups, she suggested I give Talie some "warm vanilla from my boobs."
  • In the checkout line at the grocery store, there was a magazine cover with a scantily Lady Gaga or Miley Cyrus or someone and E commented: "Look!  That girl is wearing glitter for clothes!"
  • Brown Language, Elliott's imaginary friend, is with us as always.  I get in trouble a lot for putting my bag on his head.  He also causes us to be late because he is always in the way and makes it difficult for Elliott to get into the car in a timely manner.  Grr Brown Language! Grr!
  • I've been teaching E that it is OK to make a mess (OMG you should see the arts n crafts area -- she really listened when I told her it was OK) because part of playing and having fun is making a mess -- but we have to be sure to clean up our mess when we are all done playing.  She came home from school the other day and I had been cooking while she was gone.  Her jaw dropped and she said, "Whoa Mommy, this kitchen is a MESS. [beat] You must have had a LOT of fun today!"

And now Talie!  It is astonishing how much she understands now.  Toddlers are SPONGES.  She will immediately drop everything if I tell her it is time to go upstairs to take a bath.  She does a ton of sign language (all done, more, milk, bath, help, hungry) and she says both SHOOOOO and HOT. She's more of a parrot when it comes to words, but she's close.  We might have another chatterbox on our hands ...

I don't need no stinking TOYS!

I have this cookie sheet!

I have these shoes!  AND I DON'T NEED CLOTHES, EITHER!

I have this laundry pile!

I have this empty box and these bottles of water!

I have winter squash!  Want some, Scout?

Happy Birthday Scout!

Elliott has coined the term "Scouch" to describe Scout's new role in our house.  She's the comfiest couch in the house!

We are working on "gentle" with Talie.

Back at the ranch ...

The dads managed just fine without us for the long weekend -- I think they had a good enough taste of what our daily lives are like so they (continue to) appreciate us. :o) And only one ER trip! (Not one of our kids.)

Danger Baby learned a few new tricks.

They were all smiles when I got home!

Jas' cheat sheet on the fridge helped him thwart most meltdowns.

Bahama Mamas

Best. Husbands. Ever.  Seriously.  We had an AMAZING time.  Some highlights include (but are not limited to): poolside adult beverages, water slides, water slides THROUGH A SHARK TANK, eating only when hungry, sleeping THROUGH THE NIGHT, wiping only our own bums for four whole days (oh, I'm such a mom). Snow tried to thwart us but we made it there a day late and the best husbands ever suggested we extend the trip by a day so we still got our four days away.  By the end, we missed the kids, we missed the husbands, we even missed the dogs.  Success!

10am. Vacation begins.

Sleeping fish are weird ...

We even went RUNNING.  That's how relaxed we were.

THROUGH THE SHARK TANK!

MOST FUN EVER

Oh, and we met Eric Estrada. :o)

Can we go back again next year?

Bring it on, 2014

Most comfortable pillow in the house? Yes.

Se we got a little creative with our sticker project.  My favorite is the blonde on the right with the donkey teeth and eye earrings. [shiver]

E made me a smoothie.  It had chocolate chips, a cut up cheese stick, water, cinnamon, salt ... cumin ... it was, um, delicious?

We had an annoying snow storm that nearly derailed my Bahamas trip (boo hoo wah for me, I know) and I was desperate to entertain these two monkeys for another day ... we used an entire roll of painter's tape and one of masking tape on various "projects" around the house.  Here, exhibit A: car tracks.

Exhibit B: wrapping ... everything.

E insisted I wear the fancy sparkle shoes while cleaning the bathroom.  It actually DID help to make it more fun?
