After several sleepless nights and a loooong day at Beth Israel, my dad's kidney transplant was a success. He and my Auntie Ria (the donor) were awake, lucid and comfortable (albeit with the help of morphine!) last night when we were finally able to see them and in typical Flaherty fashion, they were cracking jokes and teasing their nurses. The whole team at BI was very pleased with the results of the surgery and everything is on the up and up. Thanks for all the love and support these last months (years, too).
